Scientific studies have shown that people with credit cards spend more money than people paying with cash. There is a simple psychological mechanism behind this phenomenon. It’s perceived as a greater loss to psychically hand over cash in exchange of goods or a service than if you just swipe your card.

Some people will just stop using their credit cards when they hear the above reason. But if you don’t actually get rid of the cards you risk falling for the temptation to start using them again at a later point. And by disposing them once and for all you don’t even have to take the internal argument.

Third reason is that without credit cards you are unable to increase your debt and things can only go one way. If you cut up those credit cards you might not need any other turn debt into wealth system. Simply to remove the possibility of making bad decisions is a powerful way to avoid them.

When you are using cash to pay for what you buy you automatically get a second chance to consider a large purchase. Most often you won’t have the amount of cash needed on you and will have to go to the ATM. And getting out of the shop is in many cases enough to make you think again and avoid unnecessary spending.

I hope you see how beneficial it can be to get rid of your credit cards once and for all. Maybe it’s time to fetch all your credit cards and a pair of scissors and get down to business?
