How to Make Extra Money on the Internet

by J. Hamilton Fraser on February 16, 2010

Are you interested in learning how to make more money on the web?  Many people dream of doing just that, but very few actually take the initiative to seek out ways to create additional income for themselves online.  Let’s look at a few of the ways that you might boost your income through the internet:

1) Sell stuff. Everybody has stuff.  Why not sell some junk?  Better yet, sell some stuff that wastes your time and costs you money to maintain, like a television or a video game system even.  Craigslist is free to use, and ebay will probably produce quick and fair results, especially for a popular item.

Now the only problem with selling stuff when you need money is that eventually you run out of stuff to sell.  But everyone should start with this basic principle and cut down on  your excess stuff in your life and recoup some of the costs in the process.

2) Write stuff. If you want to know how to make extra money out of thin air, then write some freelance articles.  There is no cost to you up front in order to get paid for writing articles for other people, and you can basically keep doing this over and over again to make more money.  Depending on how fast you can type, you can actually make a decent hourly wage by cranking out freelance articles, but the mental drain can be surprisingly wicked.  Most cannot sustain this for anything close to 8 hours per day.

3) Publish stuff. If you go this route, you are still going to be writing articles online, but now the idea is that you will make money from them in a more direct way (rather than by selling them).  Instead, you may run advertising on the articles or use them to pitch products to web surfers.  Either way, this method can make you a lot of money, but it can take more time to build it up into a sustainable income stream.
